In a battle of KCII area teams Friday it was all Highland as the Huskies scored a girls basketball win to open the season 80-21 over Keota on the road. Highland started the game on a 19-3 run that lasted the entire first quarter. They outscored the Eagles 25-7 in the second quarter to take a 44-10 lead into the half. In the second half Highland continued to pull away, putting together an 18-5 run that lasted the entire third quarter enacting a running clock in the frame. The Huskies outscored the Eagles 18-6 in the final quarter. Dani Laughlin led the way as one of three Huskies in double figures with 17 points. Abbi Stransky had 14 and Alyssa Brase 10. Highland is 1-0 on the year, Keota falls to 0-1.
