A trip back to the playoffs translated into nine Washington football players receiving postseason recognition from class 3A district 6.

Luke Turner headlined the selections being awarded co-offensive MVP of the league. The new career all-purpose yard leader at Washington High, compiled 2,819 yards of total offense that ranks second in the entire state. The three-year signal caller was responsible for 36 touchdowns on the year including 19 on the ground and 17 through the air. All of those yards were from the help of fellow first teamer in Ryan Friese. The 6’4’’ 265 pound lineman helped pave the way to 4,017 total yards by the offense that is fifth in class 3A. Other first team all district players included Ethan Hunt, Wyatt Stout, and Trashaun Willis. Hunt finished third in the district in receiving with 27 receptions for 597 yards and six touchdowns. Stout was a big part of the rushing game with 732 yards and 14 scores to rank third in the league. Willis was the captain of the defense with 47.5 tackles including nine for a loss.

Demons selected to the second team include Jarrett Bender, Jaden Crawford, Dillan Sanders, and Brady Knutson. Bender was out for a few games due to injury, but still managed 15 tackles for a defense that gave up less than 10 points in four games this year. Crawford was a senior captain and another staple of the offensive line. Sanders led the team in tackles with 51 and fellow safety Knutson had 32.5. Head Coach James Harris was pleased to see so many Demons get recognized. “To get nine players on all district is such an honor. All of these kids deserve it and even a few more could have made it too. It is a reflection of a great year these guys had.”

Washington finished 2019 with a 7-3 record.
