The Lone Tree Lion football team had a defense with a dominant anchor in the middle in 2019. Senior Cale Yoder finished with 107 and a half tackles, most on the team and in the district and fourth most in all of 8-man football. His 22 tackles for loss were third best in the state. He also posted four sacks. He hit double digit stops in six of the nine games the Lions played this year with the high water mark coming in a loss to Iowa Valley where he finished with an incredible 20 and a half tackles. He also picked off three passes and returned two of them for touchdowns. The Lions finished with a 5-4 overall record.
