Veterans will be honored at a local school district Monday. The Winfield-Mt. Union School District will host a Veterans Day assembly for WMU students, staff and community members. They will meet in the gym to honor local veterans. All veterans are welcome and encouraged to attend. Winfield-Mt. Union class of 1994 alum Sergeant Major Ed Pforts will be the keynote speaker. Students and teachers will honor veterans with songs, readings, and the Pledge of Allegiance while the local VFW chapter presents the Colors. Students and staff have also created poppies to decorate the cafeteria with the names of past and current service members.
