Monday the Hillcrest Academy cross country team held their final home meet of the 2019 season. Top finish for area schools on the boys and girls side came from the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks. The Mid-Prairie girls won the meet out of 13 teams, beating No. 2 Williamsburg in second place by a 45 to 55 final score. The Golden Hawk girls were led by Marie Hostetler who brought home the individual title with her time of 18:40. Other finishers for Mid-Prairie included Mitzi Evans fifth, Abbagail Evans 10th, Ana Fleming 11th, Angelina Evans 18th, Jaden Yoder 33rd, and Amara Jones 53rd. The Mid-Prairie boys were fourth of 13 teams with an overall score of 125 points. Pella won the meet with 40 points. Top finish for the Golden Hawk boys came from Jamison Stutzman in 14th with a time of 18:25. Other Golden Hawk finishers included Chandler Hershberger 15th, Lucas Bontrager 24th, Nathan Wallington 27th, Mose Yoder 48th, and Carter Harmson 54th.

The Washington boys were sixth overall with 157 points, led by Evan Horak in seventh with a time of 17:54. Other finishers for the Demons included Lance Sobaski 12th, Justin Simmering 40th, Matt Collett 61st, Cameron Vongpanya 75th, and Drew Horak 85th. The Demon girls were 10th with 296 points, led by Grace Voss in 46th with a time of 23:39. Other finishers for Washington included Hannah Reese 54th, Abby Voss 56th, Cloe Telleen 70th, Narely Torrijos 80th, Josie Tanner 87th and Anna Collett 93rd.

The Hillcrest Academy girls were 13th with a score of 313 points. Top finish for the Ravens came from Leah Bontrager in 31st with a time of 22:31. Other finishers for Hillcrest included Sarena Gerber 50th, Chloe Staley 79th, Taryn Leichty 84th, Julia Boller 88th, and Ainsley Shaw 96th. The Hillcrest boys were 13th with a score of 352 points, led by Jorge Canchola in 77th with a time of 21:47. Other finishers for the Ravens included Collin Miller 79th, Will Kolck 80th, Colby Harris 82nd, Owen Swartzendruber 84th, Jesse Slater 86th and Toby Chen 90th.

No other area schools posted a team score. Leaders on the boys side included WACO’s Jonah Egli 32nd in 19:12, Lone Tree’s Albert Cortes 53rd in 20:13, Sigourney’s Mason Moore in 58th in 20:33 and Keota’s Dakota Hammen in 102 in 29:24. Leaders on the girls side included Lone Tree’s Macie Bopp in 39th in 23:07, WACO’s Grace Conwell in 75th in 26:34, and Keota’s Jordan Hammen 83rd in 27:29.
