The time has come for Washington cross country’s annual meet, as they welcome eight other teams today.

Area squads of Highland, Keota, Sigourney, and Lone Tree will also be participating along with Southeast Conference schools of Fairfield, Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, and Keokuk. Demon head coach Stefanie Haworth tells KCII Sports the team always looks forward to running at their home course. “We usually run extremely strong at our home meet. Our seniors know this is the last time running that course. It is a tough course as it is all hills, but they do a great job.” Evan Horak made headlines last week at Mount Pleasant when he won a meet for the first time in his career.

All of the action will get underway around 4:45 p.m. today at Washington Golf and Country Club.
