waco-warriors-300x239-10

Defending 8-man state champs New London got all they could handle and then some Friday night, but they spoiled WACO’s homecoming in a 56-50 three-overtime slugfest.

The WACO offense picked up right where they left off last week scoring twice in the first and second quarters headlined by three touchdown passes from Nik Coble to three different receivers in Robert Frazer, Jaden Williams, and Will Edeker. The Warriors held a 26-13 advantage at the break, but the Tigers came out gun blazing in the third scoring the game’s next four touchdowns to open a 38-26 lead. Coble went back to work in the fourth with a 24-yard scoring strike to Edeker and a 23-yard rush to send the game into overtime. Coble opened the extra period with a 10-yard scamper that reached pay dirt and one over the top to Frazer in OT2, but the Warriors were finally stopped in the third that ended the barnburner. Shae Summerfield had a monstrous day for the Tigers with 334 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Coble was 12 of 23 for 189 yards and four scores with two more on the ground. Frazer had six receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Braden Hammond led the defense with 16 tackles.

WACO falls to 1-2 on the season and they travel to Montezuma on Friday.
