Today is a special election day in the Highland Community School District. Residents will be deciding the fate of a $3.7 million bond measure. If passed, the money will be used to update the HVAC system at the middle and high school, expand storage for the fine arts department, and upgrade the playground at the elementary school in Riverside. Due to property valuations increasing, the bond would make the tax rate fluctuate 15 cents or less, according to Superintendent Ken Crawford. Riverside residents can vote at City Hall and Ainsworth residents cast ballots at the former elementary school building. Polls close at 8 p.m. Listen to KCII for live results from the Washington County Courthouse tonight.
