The Highland football team stayed the course on Friday night to come out with a 32-21 victory over Alburnett in the Huskies’ home opener.

Cole Adamson and Owen Donovan were a dynamic duo in the backfield rushing for 135 and 128 yards, respectively. Donovan reached the end zone twice including breaking one out from 70 yards. Connor Grinstead was six of nine through the air for 103 yards and three touchdowns that all went to Mason McFarland. Cael Yeggy led the defense with 8.5 tackles. Head Coach Scott Morel liked how his team continued to battle. “Each week we are learning how to win. There is going to be different ways to win throughout the year. This one we had to grind it out after stalling for a little bit, but found a way to win. That’s a sign of where we are at as a program and where we want to go.”

The Huskies move to 2-0 and look to keep things rolling on Friday night when they travel to Lynnville-Sully.
