Runners and cyclists will gather in downtown Washington Saturday for the Flying Pigs Duathlon. It is the race’s ninth year. Participants can either fly solo or team up for the 5K run, followed by a 20-mile bike ride, and then a 1.5 mile run. Terri Hartzler organizes the event to be the same day as the annual craft fair in Central Park, “We have several people from out of town that always come, so it’s always a good event. We collaborate that with the craft sale that goes on in the square, so it’s nice to get more people, draw more people into the community to enjoy that.”

There’s still time to sign up for the Flying Pigs Duathlon. Sign up in advance online or the morning of the event at 8 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m. Proceeds are used to purchase equipment for the new YMCA facility that is under construction.
