Moderate drought can now be found in pockets across Iowa, including portions of the KCII-listening area. According to the National Weather Service, 9.5% of Iowa is in moderate drought and 52.6% is abnormally dry. Most of Henry County and the southern half of Louisa County are in moderate drought, as well as the far northwest corner of Iowa County. Meanwhile, all of Washington County is abnormally dry, along with Keokuk, Jefferson, and Johnson Counties.

In the Southeast District the USDA has topsoil moisture rated at 36% adequate, 45% short, and 19% very short, while subsoil moisture is 49% adequate, 45% short, and six percent very short. Listen to KCII for weather updates; there is a chance for rain in the area Saturday and Sunday.
