“My Hands to larger service,” that’s part of the 4-H Club pledge, and that’s exactly what Gracie Greiner exemplified at the Iowa State Fair this week.

Greiner is at the state fair both as an exhibitor and to serve her duties as the Iowa Pork Queen. The Washington County native was on the grounds with her tiara on when she saw a pig that needed some help, “Actually farrowing has become one of my favorite parts of the process. And I was in the barn, just sitting there answering questions and having people walk by. And she was farrowing, and it was one of her last ones. And so she was pretty tired, as you can imagine, she had 13 babies. So, yep, she just needed some help getting it out. So I naturally just took to it and helped her get her baby out.” All the while Greiner didn’t take the time to take her tiara off.

She will be attending Iowa State University this fall and plans to study animal science. Her dream job is to become a large animal veterinarian.
