Another archery season has come and gone and the tradition of excellence continues with the Washington archery team. The seventh best sports story in our top 10 countdown for Washington from the 2018-2019 school year takes us to the 2019 National Archery in the Schools Program Eastern National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.

Samantha Mellinger represented the Demons at the national tournament in May. The junior shot a 281 in the bullseye competition that put her in the 96th percentile out of all of the girls competing. She was 469th out of 7,109 participants overall including placing 87th out of 589 11th grade girls. In the IBO 3D Challenge Mellinger shot a 279 that put her in 135th out of 2,496 overall. That score was also the 27th best out of 216 11th grade girls. Washington has built up one of the best archery programs in the state and has become a main stay in the national tournaments. Tomorrow continues our top 10 countdown when we head to the track.
