The KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought live coverage of a severe thunderstorm warning for Washington County Saturday night. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 6:41 p.m. for southwestern Washington County, Keokuk County, Jefferson County, and northwestern Van Buren County until 7:45 p.m. At 7 p.m. a wind gust of 61 miles per hour was recorded at the Ottumwa Regional Airport.

At 7:38 p.m., the National Weather Service extended the warning until 8:45 p.m. and added Henry County. Washington County was dropped from the warning at 8 p.m.

Six members of the KCII Severe Weather Action team worked to bring live up to the minute coverage of the severe storm. Had the power gone out, KCII would stay on air with our emergency back up generators.
