The Iowa Mennonite School girls basketball team hosted their annual camp this week at Hillcrest Union. The camp focused on fundamentals including individual drills, group drills, station work, competition and games. This week, IMS head girls basketball coach Kari Huisenkveld talked about what a typical day of camp looks like. “It’s a lot of breakdown of individual skills. To me that’s a huge thing that happens in the summer. That’s when kids can really improve. We start off with ballhandling, shooting form, basic technique, some of the things you don’t get to work on a lot during the school year. Play some games. Things that are fun and engaging for the kids. Each day we end with five-on-five and incorporating some of the skills that we learned earlier in the day.”

Along with Huisenkveld, assistant coaches and current players provided instruction.
