Power was not available to the downtown Washington area for a portion of the morning Thursday. At about 11:20 a.m. the power went out. The outage included 520 Alliant Energy customers, including Washington City Hall, the Washington Chamber of Commerce, and KCII Radio. KCII was able to stay on the air with our emergency backup generators. During the outage, traffic lights were not operating. At about 11:50 a.m. the origin of the issue was located and crews were sent to fix the problem. The cause of the outage was not released.
