Wednesday, the No. 11 Solon Spartan softball team ended Mid-Prairie’s season by a 9-1 score at the Solon Athletic Complex, in the first round of the class 3A regional tournament. In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, the Hawks had chances early, putting a pair on base in the second, and loading the bases in the fourth but were unable to break through. Meanwhile, Solon got their offense going in the second inning with a single run and followed that up with one more in the third, five in the fourth and a pair in the sixth. The Spartans pounded out 11 hits. Mid-Prairie got on the board in the fifth when Hailey Yoder came home on a Georgia Nisley RBI single to right. Jaselyn Robertson was three for three for Mid-Prairie. Cassidy Rourke threw all six innings, taking the loss for the Golden Hawks. MId-Prairie graduates three seniors, Rourke, Yoder and Kylee Kos. They end their season at 9-21.
