sigourney-3

This time of the year teams are just trying to survive and advance. The Sigourney softball team did more than just survive last night, as they pounded Montezuma 14-2 in a class 1A regional quarterfinal that lasted just four innings.

The Savages scored in every frame including a crooked number in the third plating seven runs en route to the big win. The team had nine hits led by Jordan VanEe going 3-for-3 with four RBI and Megan Stuhr had three runs scored. VanEe nabbed the win in the circle going four innings of two hit ball and giving up just one earned run.

Sigourney improves to 18-13 and they travel to North Mahaska (17-9) in a regional semifinal tomorrow.
