grass-300x225

Keep grass out of city streets. As you mow your yards this summer, residents of the City of Washington are reminded that it is against city code to put grass in the street. City Code prohibits anyone from putting leaves, grass, or other debris on public rights-of-way or in the street. Doing so may result in the debris being washed into the storm sewer and could clog the storm sewer system. Grass on pavement can also create a slick and dangerous surface for motorcycles. It is the duty of homeowners to dispose of yard waste before it becomes a nuisance. Yard clippings can be disposed of in the brown yard waste bags available at City Hall for $1 or by taking it to the city’s yardwaste center on Buchannan, off of Highway 1.
