The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team took one of two River Valley Conference games against the Wilton Beavers on Tuesday in Kalona. The Hawks fell in game one by a 13-8 score before rebounding to win the second 7-5. In the first contest, Wilton’s offense was red hot, scoring in each inning including two in the first and four in the second to build a 6-1 lead. Mid-Prairie spent the game playing catch up, getting as close as five down the stretch. Abbi Patterson and Jaselyn Robertson each had a hit and two RBI. Patterson took the loss in the circle going four innings, giving up 14 hits and eight runs.

In game two Mid-Prairie made Wilton play from behind in taking the two run win. The Golden Hawks opened a 3-1 lead after two innings and led 6-2 after five. Cassidy Rourke was three for four with a pair of runs driven in. She also got the win in the circle going all seven innings, giving up 10 hits, five runs and striking out six. Mid-Prairie is now 8-19 on the year.
