A trailhead that connects the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center to the Kewash Nature Trail is complete.

Work to add a concrete sidewalk that leads to a gazebo on Kirkwood’s campus began in May. WCCB Director Zach Rozmus says it is a great addition for all the entities involved, “The Kirkwood trailhead is going to be a great avenue for people to access the Kewash Trail. You have a great parking area and you can access the trail right there. Kirkwood’s been great about allowing us to use their parking area. Then in turn, they’re getting a great pavillion with some bike racks and stuff out of it. That’s something that’s real exciting to see how that’s going to benefit, not just us, but the community itself as an asset for Washington moving forward.”

The WCCB agreed that this would be a great addition for students who wish to walk or ride bikes to class, and add a place to stop for those who use the trail. DeLong Construction was awarded the bid for the project for $109,046.
