Explore the “Legend of Brighton” at this year’s Brighton Whoopee Days.

The 109th edition of Whoopee Days continues today with a carnival, dunk tank, and a special appearance by Dizzie the Clown. The first celebration was in 1910 when it was known as Booster Days. The name changed to Whoopee Days in 1929, the same year Brighton concluded construction adding pavement to the business district and Highway 1. Festivities that include a parade, tractor run, and talent show will run through the weekend and conclude with a community church service Sunday at 10 a.m. The KCII Big Red Radio will visit Whoopee Days Saturday as part of the KCII Big Red Radio Summer Town Tour.
