Mid-Prairie will be purchasing a new wheelchair accessible bus. T

he school board held a public hearing Monday night to approve the specifications for a 48 passenger diesel bus with a wheelchair lift. Nobody spoke and the board moved forward with bid reviewal. There were two bids submitted to the district. The board accepted a $113,202 bid from Thomas Bus Sales. The need for a new bus stems from the district only having one minibus that has room for one wheelchair at a time.

According to Transportation Director Teresa Hartley, there are currently five students within the district that use a wheelchair. The bus is expected to be added to the fleet in the fall of 2019.
