A second Assistant Washington County Attorney is joining the department this summer. At Tuesday’s meeting the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the addition and hiring of Shane McChurch. He has been interning with the department as a law student for the last year. County Attorney John Gish said McChurch graduated and will be taking the bar exam in July, “I’m very excited to keep him on. A very smart guy. In fact, I’ve had defense attorneys come up to me and compliment how good he is, despite just being a law student at the time.” The salary will be about $55,000 annually, which Gish said is about $10,000 less than the minimum paid by Johnson County. McChurch’s official start date as Assistant Washington County Attorney will be August 5th.
