midprairie-3

The Mid-Prairie softball team traveled to Iowa City on Monday and took one of two from Regina in a River Valley Conference doubleheader. The Golden Hawks dropped game one by a 5-2 score. Regina struck first with three in the second, Mid-Prairie responded with one in the top of the third only to see the Regals extend their lead in the bottom of the frame with two more runs. The Hawks would score once in the sixth but would get no closer down the stretch. In game two Regina again jumped out to a lead with a single tally in the bottom of the first but from there the Mid-Prairie pitching and defense settled in while the offense pushed across a pair of runs in the fourth and seventh innings to secure the win. With the split, the Golden Hawks are now 4-11 on the year as they get ready for Fairfield Wednesday.
