An agreement between the Washington County Board of Health and owners of a dog described as vicious is being crafted.

The Board of Health held a special meeting to discuss the proposed agreement with Washington County Attorney John Gish. If the agreement becomes final, Kim, Brian, and Tanner Coleman will get to keep their German shepherd named Alpine. The drafted agreement has some stipulations that include the Colemans legally taking responsibility for Alpine and acknowledging the dog has bitten two people over the last 12 months. In the latest draft, the owners also must obtain insurance on the dog, display a “Beware of Dog” sign on their property, and enroll the dog in obedience training within 30 days.

The board agreed to move forward with the agreement with a few changes regarding insurance requirements. Gish will now give the changes to the Colemans’ attorney to have them look it over. The board noted they hope to have everything finalized by their next meeting on June 20th.
