Late inning offensive production propelled the Sigourney baseball team past Iowa Valley 8-7 at Mount Mercy University on Wednesday.

The Tigers plated a pair of runs in the first and fourth inning to build a 4-0 lead. The Savages came to life in the fifth scoring four runs to tie it and eventually took the lead with two more in the sixth and seventh. Iowa Valley made it interesting in the bottom half of the seventh cutting a four run deficit to one, but Dustin Haines closed the door retiring the only batter he faced on the bump. Sigourney tallied 10 hits led by a 2-for-4 with two runs performance from Brock Halleran. Payton Schauf had a bases clearing double to end with three RBI. Nick Goad nabbed the win going three innings giving up three runs on seven hits.

Sigourney improves to 2-0 and they get back on the diamond today hosting Belle Plaine.
