After back-to-back postponements, the Washington softball team finally got back on the diamond Wednesday night and they took full advantage of the opportunity dispatching Knoxville 13-3 in six innings.

As heard on KCII, the bats awoke early with four hits in the first headlined by a RBI single from Molly Sparks. The Demons tallied two runs in each of the first two frames before Knoxville made it a game in the third by cutting it to 4-3. Washington was not fazed however, putting up a five spot in the bottom half including a pair of two RBI doubles from sisters Kaitlyn and Alexa Mitchell. The lead continued to grow, as the Demons scored in five of the six innings and the game ended on a walk-off single from Kellie Dallmeyer for the mercy-rule victory. Alexa Mitchell paced the offense going 3-for-4 with four runs knocked in. Sparks picked up right where she left off in the circle going all six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and five strikeouts.

Washington improves to 1-1 and they get back on the diamond tonight hosting Fairfield for a doubleheader.
