The Washington softball team hopes the weather holds off for their Southeast Conference opener today when they travel to Fort Madison for a doubleheader.

The Demons will try to bounce back from an opening season 8-5 loss to Anamosa on Monday. Molly Sparks returns for her senior year in the circle after a 3.84 ERA in 133 innings last season. Kellie Dallmeyer led the offense with a .442 batting average and 23 runs knocked in. The Bloodhounds were 11-24 in 2018 and started this season with a 7-6 win over West Burlington.

The doubleheader gets underway at 5:30 p.m. this evening in Fort Madison. Listen to the games on FM 106.1 KCII starting at 5 p.m.
