A win is a win, by an inch, by a mile, or even by .02 of a second. The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls distance medley captured the second state championship for the Hawks, taking their event by the slimmest of margins. Mid-Prairie’s team of Abbigail Evans, Cassidy Rourke, Amber Swart and Marie Hostetler were winners in 4:08.74 over Applington-Parkersburg.

Other events on Friday for Mid-Prairie included a fourth place for the girls 4×200 team of Swart, Rourke, Maddie Edgington and Abbigail Evans, a third place prelim finish and trip to the finals for the 4×100 team of Swart, Mitzi Evans, Abbigail Evans and Maddie Edgington. Seventh for the boys 4×200 team of Caleb Thomas, Quinn Schmidt, Grant Boyse and Elmir Ganibegovic, 17th for the 4×100 team of Clarke Latcham, Caleb Thomas, Boyse and Ganibegovic and 20th for Jack Baker in the discus.
