The Mid-Prairie boys and girls track teams open the 2019 state track meet today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Mid-Prairie girls will begin their team state championship title defense today by putting Marie Hostetler on the track for the 3000, as she tries to defend her individual championship in the event. She enters the race seeded fourth. Mid-Prairie will also have a pair of 4×800 relays in action with Angelina Evans, Abbagail Evans, Moriah Brase and Kate Cavanagh, looking to improve on last year’s seventh place finish in the event. They enter this year seeded eighth. The boys 4×800 relay of Quinn Schmidt, Brad Tornow, Miles Burrows and Justin Schwartz will look to take the next step and win the event after finishing second a season ago.
