It was a big day for area boys golf teams Friday at New London in the class 1A sectional tournament.

The Sigourney Savages claimed the team championship advancing to districts as a group shooting an impressive 346. Sigourney was led by individual sectional champion Dustin Haines and his one over par 73. Haines was followed by Cole Weber, Josh Mohr and Nick Goad who all finished in the top 10 with rounds of 91. Other scores for Sigourney included Ian Terfehn 102 and Brett Stiegel 113.

Winfield-Mt. Union will be back at districts after finishing sectional runner-up as a team. The Wolves were led by Nolan Ross with his round of 83. Other scores for WMU included Jarod Kadel fourth with an 89, Graham Hagge fifth at 80, Jacob Kongable seventh with a 91, Brady Loyd shot a 97 and Noah Freeman 100.

Keota just finished on the outside looking in at the district meet, taking fourth place with a 402 team score. Luke Hammen was low man for the Eagles with a round of 95. Other Keota scores included Colten Clarahan and Drew Sieren with 101s, Max Johnson 105, Branden Hyman 111,and Chase Kindred 115

Iowa Mennonite School missed qualifying as a team with their score of 412 but will send senior Trevor Leyden on to districts next week. Leyden led IMS by firing an overall fifth place round of 90. Other scores for IMS included London Schrock and Noah Miller with matching 101s and Cole Roth at 120.

Highland finished in seventh place as a team with a score of 427. Top score for the Huskies was a 103 from Jamison Kasparek. Other Highland scores included Brody Burton 106, Jack Baker 107, Zane Eagle 111, Brock Schaeller 115 and Cael Yeggy 117.

Lone Tree was eighth at the meet with a 496 team score, paced by Jaxon Mullinix and a round of 112. Payton Lorack shot 113, Adam Knock 123 and Josh Mills 148.
