The Mid-Prairie girls track and field team will see live competition for the first time Monday when they travel to the Iowa State University Indoor meet in Ames.

The Hawks are coming off of a season that saw them capture their first state championship in school history. The Hawks did it with a team score of 60 points, including four individual championship events featuring Anna Hostetler with the title in the 800 and 1500, Marie Hostetler with the championship in the 3000 and the Golden Hawk distance medley team bringing home gold. The Golden Hawks bring a lot of key pieces back in 2019 that played key roles in the Mid-Prairie title run a season ago including seniors Mariah Brase, Kate Cavanagh, Kitty Conway, Kessa Jones, Kylie Kos and Cassidy Rourke. In the junior class it’s Abbagail Evans, Angelina Evans and Marie Hostetler. Joining the Golden Hawks in Ames Monday are 86 other teams from around the state. Action begins at three and continues into the evening in Ames.
