With below freezing temperatures it’s easy to avoid keeping your vehicle maintained, but a little work now can save you time and money down the road. According to Car Doctor Manager Katie Rodriguez, the colder temperatures can break down the metal on a car. Rodriguez adds that fluids like coolant can over go overlooked which could lead to major problems, “It causes a lot of corrosion so a lot of parts start to break physically. So then if you lose coolant, then you overheat and cause head gasket problems, you can end up on the side of the road. Those are all bigger problems.”

It is also important to make sure to have tires that can handle, snow, ice and all the materials that are used on the roads during those conditions. A quick and easy trick to test your tire’s tread is placing a penny head first in the grooves of your tires. If you can see Lincoln’s head, it’s time to replace your tires.
