Mid-Prairie is looking into offering an incentive for employees who turn in their resignation early. At the recent school board meeting, Superintendent Mark Schneider said he would like to give teachers a bonus for turning in their notice sooner so the school can prepare the replacement process as soon as possible. According to Schneider, the pool of teachers to hire is becoming tighter, so this would give them a head start on finding quality teachers. His proposal includes offering full-time teachers and administration $1,000 if they submit their notice by April 1st, and $500 if they notify the district before April 30th. The superintendent, any retiring staff, or extra curricular contacts are not eligible for this bonus. Board members liked the idea and passed the policy on its first reading and will go over the policy again during the March 11th meeting with the second reading.
