Some of the coldest air on record in the state of Iowa is bearing down today, as temperatures will stay below zero until Thursday afternoon.

Wind chill values as cold as -30 degrees are possible through the afternoon hours today as an arctic blast of air impacts the region and will continue through the overnight and morning tomorrow. Relief is in sight from the cold snap, as temperatures will rebound into the 20s by Friday and well above the freezing mark this weekend.
