It’ll be fun and games at St. James Catholic School in Washington this week. The elementary school is celebrating Catholic Schools Week with a board games theme with “Game On for Catholic Education.” Principal Beth McBride explains the week is observed nationally and Thursday former St. James students will be involved, “The game of life is that day, and in the morning we have what we call our silver alumni, our senior citizen alumni, and they will come in and play a game of Catholic bingo or Mass bingo. And have them for breakfast, and our fourth graders serve them, and share in that time with them. And then at noon we have our graduating seniors from Washington High School that attended St. James School, they’re invited for lunch and they will sit and have lunch with the kids.” The different grade levels are also having a penny wars with funds raised going to Camp Reece. There will also be community leaders visiting the school throughout the week including Mayor Jaron Rosien and Chief of Police Greg Goodman.

St. James School instructs preschool through fifth grade students, and since 2004 12 former St. James students have been valedictorian or salutatorian at the public school.
