With the departure of Hall of Fame coach Bill Plein, expectations for the Colubus/Winfield-Mt. Union wrestling team were unknown.  But with the 2018 portion of the season serving as a sample size for the first season of Joel Keller and Andy Milder’s tenure, things are looking good for the Wildcat wrestlers.

As a team, the Wildcats come into 2019 sitting at 5-3 in duels.  On the individual side of things, the story of the season has been senior Jarod Kadel in the 138 weight class, who enters the second half of the season unbeaten and ranked fourth in Class 2A by The Predicament.  He looks to make it back to the state tournament, where he received his only loss of last season in the state title match.

Other individual standouts include Chance Colby in the 182 weight class (15-4), Jose Cerezo in the 152 (14-5; has also wrestled in the 160 a few times), and Tucker Bright in the 132 (15-4).

They open up their 2019 calendar year with tournament action this coming Saturday at Highland’s Gary Curtis Invitational.
