Tariffs that hit the soybean and hog industries earlier this year have been impacting farmers, and as a result many will receive aid in payments. The $12 billion in U.S. Department of Agriculture Market Facilitation Program payments were authorized in August, after tariffs on soybeans and pork from the U.S. were announced by China. Wellman had four hog producers receive more than $52,000, Riverside had one get nearly $121,000, and five hog producers in the Keota area received between $39,000 and $125,000.
