The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk cross country team continued to reach unprecedented heights in 2018.

The Golden Hawk girls continued their recent dominance, spending more weeks than any other program with the No. 1 ranking in the state in class 2A. Mid-Prairie performed best on the biggest stages, posting their second consecutive district championship, soundly beating No. 2 Williamsburg at Tipton. Once at state, the Hawks continued to shine, outpacing the field en route to their second consecutive state title. The Hawks were led in that pursuit by Marie Hostetler who grabbed her second straight individual championship. The Golden Hawk girls are the first program in Mid-Prairie athletics history to win back-to-back state championships.

The Golden Hawk boys saw a mix of new and veteran faces in 2018. Mid-Prairie fell just short of qualifying as a team for the 2A field in Fort Dodge with their fourth place finish at districts, but they did send Quinn Schmidt to the state meet to cap his Mid-Prairie career. Schmidt took home 32nd place overall.
