The Highland football team surrendered its first loss of the season last week when they lost to the red-hot Bears of BGM by a 31-22 score.  Their week six match-up doesn’t get any easier, as they hit the road tomorrow night to take on Pekin.

Last week was a battle of unbeaten teams, and this week brings a battle of one-loss teams.  Both of these teams’ losses came against opponents that are now ranked, with BGM coming out of their win of Friday ranked tenth in class A (DM Register) and Pekin falling to #9 Mediapolis (Class 1A, DM Register rankings) in week three.

The Panthers are led offensively by Dayne Eckley, who has already surpassed 1,000 yards rushing and scored ten touchdowns in about half a season.  Head coach Scott Morel says his Huskies will have to hone in on him.

“We’ve really gotta really make sure we tackle,” Morel said.  “It can’t be one guy making tackles.  It has to be the whole team flooding to the ball.”

Kickoff tomorrow night is set for 7:00.
