After several weeks of continued precipitation and flooding, area rivers have made their way back to their banks.

In Washington County, the English River at Wapello rose to a height of 18.8 feet, nearly five feet above flood stage.

In Keokuk County, the North Skunk River reached 23 feet, more than seven feet above flood stage at its highest.

In Louisa County, the Cedar River at Conesville rose to 16.2 feet. Flood stage at that location is 13 feet.

The Iowa River also prompted flood warnings to be issued in the KCII listening area with the highest crest coming in Columbus Junction at 23.91 feet, nearly six feet above flood stage. Flood warnings were also issued along the waterway at Marengo, Wapello and Oakville.

After rain in the listening area Tuesday, the forecast calls for a cool down into the weekend and possible showers Saturday. Stay tuned to KCII for weather updates.
