Clarence Pedersen

An arraignment was continued for a Washington man charged with first degree murder in the death of his roommate.

The filed motion to continue the arraignment that was scheduled for August 10th for defendant 64-year-old Clarence Dean Pedersen states that the defense attorney does not believe the defendant fully understands the nature and purpose of an arraignment. The file states a review of the minutes of testimony suggests that sometime prior to the alleged murder of 70-year-old Ed Jones, the defendant was no longer being given the psychiatric medication he has been prescribed for decades. Pedersen now asserts his true and correct name is “Band Deano.” The defense requested a continuance of one week which was granted, and a motion filed to determine competency in that time is anticipated.
