After a run to the second round of the regional tournament and a loss to an eventual championship contender in Lisbon, the Lone Tree Lion baseball team finished out the year with a 10-18 record.

The Lions suffered a bit in conference play, finishing in seventh place out of nine in the Southeast Iowa Superconference’s north division with a conference record of 6-10.  They hit .235 as a team in conference play as opposed to .260 overall.

The playoffs saw a first-round victory for the Lions over South Iowa Cedar League foe Iowa Valley by a 7-6 score.  They then moved on to play unbeaten Lisbon, who they led by a 3-0 score after two and a half innings.  But Lisbon would score 13 runs in the next three innings, including nine in the third inning alone, to win the game in five innings.

Junior Avery Knock led the way all season offensively for the Lions, sporting a .423 batting average and driving in a team-high 22 runs; clinching himself a spot in the first all-conference team.  Sophomore Brady Dauber was the second of two first-teamers for Lone Tree, swiping 24 bases on 27 attempts; good for top five in the conference.

The Lions lose three seniors to graduation in Wesley Hotz, Casey Shalla and Dakota Smith, and retain the remaining 13 players.
