The City of Kalona is celebrating their quilting heritage during this year’s RAGBRAI with the hashtag #BoltsOfColor.

City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says the city is working on doing an interactive display where bicyclists can add strands of fabric to a quilt-like collage which will be livestreamed online, “The whole visit riders can come up and we’ll have some of the quilting community there and they’ll be working on it throughout the day. And then people can come up and they can tie off a piece of fabric on there based on the color selection of where and in the end it will end up being a finished product.”

Over 30 vendors will be set up in Kalona July 27th with live music throughout the day on two stages from Kevin “B.F.” Burt, Brass Pear, Lauren & Co. Acoustics, Justin Goodchild, Cameron Panzi, and Tom Nothnagle. The next RAGBRAI committee meeting for Kalona is Thursday at 6 p.m. at city hall. For a link to sign up to volunteer click here.
