The Mid-Prairie baseball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday night in Iowa City in the semifinal round of class 2A district play.
The Golden Hawks fell to No. 3 Iowa City Regina by a 7-3 score. The Regals got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Mid-Prairie answered with two runs in the third when Karson Gingerich and Keaton Duwa supplied the RBI hits to drive in Brad Tornow and Karson Gingierch.
With the game tied at two, Regina put together their big inning in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four times on two hits and a Golden Hawk error, chasing Mid-Prairie starter Collin Gingerich from the game in the process. Regina would score again in the fifth when Ryne Schooley drove in Mason Miller to make it 7-2. The Golden Hawks loaded the bases in the seventh, scoring once when Karson Gingerich drove in Tornow for the second time on the night but still came up short. Karson Gingerich was three for four with two RBI and a run scored. Tornow also collected three htis. The Golden Hawks end their season at 12-17 and will say goodbye to seniors Collin Gingerich, Eli Steckly, Karson Gingerich, Stephen Miller, Keaton Duwa and Peyton Miller.
