The Washington Demon baseball team brought home two mercy-rule wins Tuesday, sweeping West Burlington by scores of 10-0 and 18-3.

The Demons got out to a very quick lead in game one, scoring six runs in the first two innings.  They would add four more in the fourth to make the lead 10-0, and the game ended there an inning later.

Jacob Hall led the way at the plate, notching two hits and driving in four.  Luke Turner also had a good game, driving in two runs on two hits.  Pitch distribution was evenly spread throughout the game, with Kole Hinrichsen throwing just two innings in his start while striking out four.

Game two was even more of a blowout, with the Demons striking for fourteen runs across the third and fourth innings to take an 18-3 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.  West Burlington would be held scoreless, which ended the game and capped off what ended up being a relatively short evening of baseball.

Jacob Hall got the start on the mound in game two, going 2.1 innings while striking out one.  Kiowa Keith also pitched one inning of work, with all three of his recorded outs being strikeouts.  The offense was balanced, as Luke Turner, Wilx Witthoft, and Brant Stout all had three RBI apiece.

The wins improves Washington’s record to 18-8 on the season.  They’ll take to the diamond tonight when they welcome the Pella Dutch to town for senior night.  First pitch at Dick Sojka Memorial Field is set for 7:30.
