A car hit a truck pulling a trailer in Washington Tuesday morning, causing the truck and trailer to jack-knife.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 7:52 a.m. the wreck happened on West Madison Street, near South Avenue G. Kevin Williams was driving the truck that was pulling the recycling trailer when it was hit by a four-door sedan driven by Kristine Braymen of Brighton. Braymen was cited for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance. As heard live from the scene on KCII, traffic was reduced to one lane while crews cleaned up the wreck. Washington Fire, Washington Rescue, Washington County Ambulance and Washington Police responded to the scene.
