The Mid-Prairie Middle School boys track and field teams were recently in River Valley Conference action at West Liberty.

The Golden Hawk seventh graders placed second with 118 points, Tipton won the meet with 123 points. Mid-Prairie had three championships on the night, Cain Brown won the high jump clearing 4’10”, Caleb Vercande the shot put with a throw of 33’2” and Jack Zahradnek the discus with a throw of 114’6”. Other top finishes for the Hawks included Cain Brown second in the 100 hurdles, Kaden Meader second in the 200m hurdles, Alex Bean second in the long jump, second for the 4×200 team of Taylor Hansen-Rich, Josiah Beachy, Kaden Meader and Collin Miller, second for the distance medley team of Grady Gingerich, Jack Zahradnek, Collin Miller and Mose Yoder, and second for the shuttle hurdle team of Grant Bender, Josiah Beachy, Alex Bean and Cain Brown. The Mid-Prairie sprint medley team of Caleb Vercande, Jack Zahradnek, Grady Gingerich and Collin Miller was third the 4×800 team of Grant Bender, Nathan Wallington, Owen Clark and Taylor Hansen-Rich took third and the 4×200 team of Josiah Beachy, Alex Bean, Grady Gingerich and Caleb Vercande was third.

The Golden Hawk eighth graders were fifth with 58 points. Tipton won the meet with 162 points. Top finishes for Mid-Prairie included second for the 4×800 team of Jack Pennington, Chandler Hershberger, Evan Hall and Will Cavanagh, third for Thaddeus Shetler in the 1600, third for Noah Miller in the high jump, the 4×100 team of Mason Brady, Alex Niemeyer, Lane Bear and Caleb Weston were third, the 4×200 team of Jack Pennington, Brent Wiles, Will Cavanagh and Aydin Kutcher was third, the 4×400 team of Chandler Hershberger, Robert Nagy, Evan Hall and Dylan Bunting third and the distance medley team of Justice Jones, Cael Garvey, Dylan Bunting and Thaddeus Shelter third.
