Residents can see the signage on the new Kalona Community Center as construction continues for the August 10 deadline.

Crews installed the signage made by Nesper Sign Tuesday, and City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh gives an update on other construction work, “They’re pouring concrete inside they’re finishing up the walking track and running track up above and then they’ll move down to the lower level they’ve been able to get all the frost out of the ground and get the building suitable for floor concrete starting on Monday of next week.”

Schlabaugh says the exterior signage won’t be lit for now, and work is 65-70% complete for the project. This week the Kalona City Council approved pay applications for Summit Fire Protection, Ace Electric, and Bushong Construction Co. for the $5.3 million center.
